Lace of the Year

It is probably one of the prettiest fall 2015 fashion trends to appear on the runways. With the skin and silhouette showing through, often a little too much, but sometimes acting more demure. The lace look appears all over the place really but how can one not fall in love with the way it hugs the body?

RED CODE

Scarlet, traffic light, crimson or ketchup - whatever you want to call it, there’s no denying AW15’s stand-out colour trend. From Dior to Marni, Fendi to Ferragamo, every designer was working the hue in head-to-toe forms. Especially red lace looks fresh and not tacky.

VICTORIANA

Moody lace and high ruffle necklines cut beautiful, costume-worthy silhouettes at Alexander McQueen, Alberta Ferretti and Rodarte. The 19th century vibes ruled over the beauty world too, as deep berry lips and period drama hair vamped-up the dark glam look even further.

LACE COLLAR

Style is all about the details that make the most significant impact, and Christian Dior, Chanel and Alberta Ferretti know it well. So, wear collars the ways they recommend – over a dress or a blouse, or just on your neck instead of a necklace.

LINGERIE

Underwear as outerwear is not a new fashion concept. But it certainly was highly desirable this season. At Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière’s sporty take on the style looked fresh, while Dolce & Gabbana once again proved they know how to work black lace like nobody’s business.

RACY LACEY

The more ludicrous it is to think of wearing these pieces as they are presented on the runway, without bras and the whole of the chest peeking through, the more they seem to appear all around us on the fashion stage. They are weightless and quite delicate, beautiful really for the most part. However, they don’t always have embroidery or any form of fabric covering up the nipples, which makes it quite unrealistic to wear on the streets.

GOTH ROMANCE

The Goth girls gone wild look is especially alluring, with its black coloring really adding a slimming factor and the way the biggest designers do it making it all less trashy and so much more sophisticated.
