Wear flare
Your wardrobe will be seriously lacking if you don’t invest in flared pants this season. How to wear them is another thing. In opposite to skinny, this one isn’t going to be easy. See below my proposal how to wear different kind of flares:
Here are the main rules:
- Belt your flares. Embrace the high-waist. A bit of structure will help balance out the flowing flares at your feet. Tuck in a printed blouse or shirt that's buttoned all the way up to the neck to accentuate your waist.
- Layer up. The easiest way to make a style your own is to add your own unique mix of layers. Your jeans should have a slim fit in the hips and thighs, so you can layer up on top without looking bulky.
- Try out some sneaks. One of the biggest advantages of flared pants is that you can wear sky-high stilts under them without anybody seeing.
- Try flares in other colors and even prints. A pair of crisp white flares works perfectly with a denim or chambray skirt. Pull it together with black or brown accessories and you've got a classic American look.
And here are some don'ts:
- Don't buy flares that overwhelm your legs. The style should be fitted to the knee, then flare out gently. It should be slightly more subdued than a pair of bell-bottoms.
- Don't wear the same flares with flats as you do with heels. You'll only tear up the hem and you might even trip!
- Don't overdo it by adding too many other casual elements. The denim shirt, exposed midriff, and embellished jacket here come off as just too much.
And last but not least - streetstyle inspirations:
