“street style obsession” by Mario Testino for Vogue Japan November 2014
Bold and beautiful “Street Style Obsession” by Mario Testino for Vogue Japan November 2014. Styling by Anna Dello Russo. It was the first time Dello Russo has worked with Testino. “I met Mario really early in my career—he’s one of my favorite photographers—but we’d never had the chance to work together. For the 15th anniversary issue, I wanted to do the most beautiful images of Japan, and it finally all came together,” she explained. Adventure wasn’t far behind. During the shoot in Shibuya—a super production involving 40 models, the stylists, geishas, Japanese characters, and assistants—the cops showed up. “You can’t get permission to shoot there, so we just did it,” explained Dello Russo. “When the police showed up, we thought, What do we do? So we yelled, "Run!" and everyone picked up and ran to the next street over to finish the shoot. It turned out to be one of the best features.” Wow!
